how do we marry employee and ecological health on a cornfield turned corporate headquarters?
AIR PRODUCTS
As Air Products looked to move to a new, consolidated campus, they engaged Andropogon to assist in making sense of their nearly 50 acres of new open space. Located on a hilltop, which was most recently a cornfield, the new office building, parking garage, labs, and manufacturing facilities will serve as the new centerpiece of the company, reflecting its values of environmental stewardship and the health and wellbeing of its workers.
Andropogon applied extensive earthwork and plantings to develop shape rolling, sculptural mounds visible from the offices above. The sculptural mounds create new types of areas for respite for gathering and decompressing. The sculptural mounds also provide a vibrant expression of the site’s stormwater solutions by guiding, holding, and infiltrating the site’s water to merge it as part of the experience.
Additional campus amenities include outdoor terraces for dining, meetings, and passive use; an entry plaza with a water feature; and a green roof with a walking track. A pedestrian pathway network is also available for use throughout the Campus Park.
